A way to join orces and destroy Jackson together I was still hoping I would end up back at a three star rating But nooooooooooI don t care how awful Amber is or how many heartless things she did in pursuit of her goal this is not a thing to wish on someone Prison time Sure that would have looked like justice But I m literally stunned that an active choice was made by the authors to convince readers that it s Torrent of Portyngale: Re-Edited from the Unique Ms. in the Chetham Library, Manchester (Classic Reprint) fun and entertaining to witness an unlikable character become a victim of domestic abuse and rapeAnyone who gave this book 4 or 5 stars really needs to examine why this twist didn t bother them I mean if you totally loved the book I m not here to judge your reviewbut just think about it Because honestlyor as cheesy and boring and soap opera y as this novel is the resolution to Daphne s problems and what Amber deserves is dark and The Pocket Mommy fucked up and no one should be okay with this kind of narrative device one that tells us some women deserve to be victims of abuseIt s sickIt takes a lotor me to hand out one star I save those or laming piles of shit But I m making an exception in this case I think I kind totally hated this very strongly To be honest I almost As If Being 12 3/4 Isnt Bad Enough, My Mother Is Running for President! feel I am being generous with two stars but then I didinish it so I wouldn t think it right to give it an even lower rating There was something about The Last Mrs Parrish that made it a very easy read but that just wasn t enough My disappointment in the book really comes As If Being 12 3/4 Isn't Bad Enough, My Mother Is Running for President! from my dislikeor the characters or at the very least my apathy towards them Amber is despicable but her bad personality is written so overtly there is no mystery no build up of atmosphere to give the story some tension The author tells us all about Amber s sneakiness instead of just showing itwhich ruins the suspense in my opinion I could even get on board when the protagonist is unlikable as long as there is some ambiguity yet there was none of that here Added to that Amber s goal is really just to be rich which is too superficial and not interesting enough to make her a compelling character I did Stickman Odyssey, Book 2: The Wrath of Zozimos feelor Daphne however I also The Last of the Tribe felt her character wasairly bland and her part in the story not excitingThe mystery itself was so predictable that I kept thinking Is this it The book is also just shy of 400 pages which is too long given the rather minimal amount of actual plot Though as I say the writing is easy and makes the book very readable the author does make use of many a clich and in several cases I thought do people really talkthink like this She loved the eel of this singularly superior vehicle is just one example of awkward unrealistic language which I ound to be a little irritatingI know I am being hard on this book and maybe unfairly so since many readers loved it but after all the attention it received I had hoped The Book of Air for something exciting and inventive than I got All that being said it s probably a decent vacation read or even a book club read because I imagine people could have a lot to say about this book Unfortunately it just wasn tor MeFind Reviews And Bookish reviews and bookish at I devoured this entire book over a lazy Sunday It is extremely addictive The writing lows beautifully and the story grabs you and The writing lows beautifully and the story grabs you and t let go I was dying to know exactly how this craziness would end but now I m kind of disappointed that it s over I m already planning on encouraging riends to give it a read so we can discuss it It s pure scandalous un Amber Patterson isn t happy with her life She s moved up in her job but can still only afford a small apartment in a good area She can t buy herself the luxurious things that she wants the things that will undoubtedly make life better That s why she has a plan and her plan involves the unlucky Daphne and Jackson Parrish Earn the trust of the wife become a ixture in her inner circle and then take her husband Rich enough to buy anything Amber s little heart desires and movie star handsome he s an obvious choice Eager to become indispensable to Daphne she stacks up lie after lie about her past in order to make her think they have a kinship As she becomes closer and closer to Daphne she starts to become a bit disheartened
"By Her Relationship With Her "
her relationship with her They seem happy and most importantly Jackson only seems to have eyes or his beautiful wife However Amber is just not the type that gives up easily She s in it or the long game those designer clothes that private plane those dream vacations but not necessarily his two childrenOver the day I read this book I was obsessed with it I loved reading about the crazy amount of wealth the Parrishes have Amber s manipulation the relationship between husband and wife and even laughing over the antics of the two little girls The perspective shift in part two really added something extra to the book I thought I would get bored rehashing certain things rom a different point of view but it was actually ascinating I m giving this one 45 couldn t put it down star. Rs and growing closer to Jackson But a skeleton rom her past may undermine everything that Amber has worked towards and if it is discovered her well laid plan may all to pieces With shocking turns and dark secrets that will keep you guessing until the very end The Last Mrs Parrish is a resh juicy and utterly addictive thriller rom a diabolically imaginative talent. Because this level of dramatic "soap opera nutty ness is just not my thing It lacks humour and humanity and "opera nutty ness is just not my thing It lacks humour and humanity and nutty ness is just not my thing It lacks humour and humanity and overpopulated with terrible one liners cliches and silly dialogue and tropes that eel like a reenactment And the writing is derivative and basicNot to mention the internal misogyny that permeates the entire theme gets my eminist hackles upAnywayI didn t know I shouldn t read this so I did and now I have library late ees and a shitty review to write so buckle in bitches This could get mildly spoiler y because I m going to rant so if you re super excited to read this here s my takeaway Don t waste your time with this unless you re cool with domestic abuse Otherwise read onFirst of all this is boring That s the most concise way to describe it It s slow with dull scenes and so overtly dramatic in its boring elements that it becomes comical and cheesy Ohhhhhh rich people events with wildly cliche conversation More descriptions of ancy clothes and designer labels and expensive cliche conversation More descriptions of ancy clothes and designer labels and expensive and boats and bikinis and hot bodies Please please tell me again what else these people are spending their excessive amounts of money onFor the irst third of the book we ollow Amber Patterson as she enacts her plan to steal someone s rich powerful husband Amber is a one dimensional douchecanoe who is absolutely agonizing to read She s a hateful conniving con artist or seemingly no real reason other than she grew up poor and believes she deserves betterand the only way to get better is with buttloads of moneyShe has zero redeeming ualities not even a modicum of a sympathetic trait She s absolutely spiteful in her self righteous belief that she could be a better rich asshole than all the other rich assholes Like there s some kind of virtue in aspiring to be the absolute worstAmber teaches herself about everything that a cultured person would apparently know She reads The Odyssey and becomes an amateur sommelier and learns about real estate and art and hedge unds You d think that someone who is that driven and smart would want to go to University and aspire to be a CEO in charge of her own money with her own power But no Amber just wants to be a rich wife because that s the kind of superficial world this book takes place in YawnnnnShe s a completely insufferable character and you truly start to wonder what the authors were thinking in their creation of her until the book switches over to the POV of Daphne Parrish the woman who s husband Amber is intent on stealing I was honestly so relieved when I left Amber behind I wasn t sure how much of her I could take Daphne The Everyman Book of Nonsense Verse from Amber s perspective has it all From the beautiful kids the nanny takes care of to the closetull of designer clothes the leet of cars and a private chef and estate sized mansion and expensive vacations down to the perfect powerful wealthy husband who provides it all and who is of course gorgeous and every woman wants him Mr Jackson ParrishListen Elon Musk might be able to buy himself hair but he can t make himself hot That s the balance of the universe It s realityUnderneath the opulence and money however Jackson is a controlling abusive waste of oxygen There are small hints leading up to the change in POV that there is something dark about Jackson but the shift in perspective brings it all rapidly to the orefront of the story because it is the Ten Years Beyond Baker Street: forefront of Daphne s lifeOkay I shouldn t say rapidly First we need to get through how Daphne met Jackson theirirst date meeting the parents and getting married and going on a honeymoon and having a baby and like every other major milestone in a married couple s life before gasp Jackson is really a total dick punch Say it isn t soNowthis is where I start getting angryUp until this point I was willing to give this book 3 stars call it just so so and kind of Lifetime movie esue and move on with my life Except it is here in the last third of the book that the tagline really starts to reveal it s true meaning Some women get everything Some women get everything they deserve What Daphne deserves is to be ree of Jackson To regain control of her life the lives of her children and move on rom the prison she was living in even if she had everything Okay great Agreed You can t put a price on The Essential Library for New Moms 4-Book Bundle: Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child; On are a couple straight out of a airy taleAmber’s envy could eat her alive if she didn't have a plan Amber uses Daphne’s compassion and caring to insinuate herself into the amily’s life the irst step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her Before long Amber is Daphne’s closest confidante traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughte. This is the irst book in a long time that i ve actually hated there are that I ve actually HATED There are number of reasons why and some are hard to talk about without giving important things away I ll start with what I can safely say All spoilers have been hiddenFirstly this book is so slow and boring Especially in the The Wrong Side of the Bed first half where we stay inside the mind of the despicable con artist Amber Patterson as she plants herself into the life of Daphne Parrish and tries to steal her rich husband There are a good two hundred pages of lunch dates designer dresses charity events and Amber hating every single person around herLook I love complex selfish unlikable characters I don t believe in general that anyone is merely good or bad Most people are screwed uplawed and jealous at times It s a shitty world out there and I truly believe most personalities are made through socialization and nurture not born BUT Amber is insufferable made through socialization and nurture not born BUT Amber is insufferable is horrible to literally everyone and The Alvin Ho Super Collection: Books 1-4 for no reason She has to make snide comments mentally about the weight of her coworker and think to herself how much easier it wasor Daphne s sister who grew up with and eventually died کاروان امید from cysticibrosisI only continued reading the slow boring narrative because I knew something had to be coming I also have a theory as to why the authors made her so one dimensional and horrible but that will have to come later under the spoiler tagAnd sure enough we reach the halfway point and the book shifts The blurb already tells us to expect shocking turns and dark secrets though I don t personally think it was that shocking For one thing the book s tagline Some women get everything Some women get everything they deserve tells us that someone is going to get what they deserve so come on is it really that hard to imagine where it s going Maybe it also doesn t help that I recently read view spoiler The Wife Between Us hide spoiler FULL REVIEW POSTED35 StarsHide ya wife Hide ya kids And hide ya husband Cause Amber Patterson is on the prowl and liable to steal your entire life right out کاروان امید: سرگذشت تری فاکس from under your nose And this time her envious glare is set upon the beautiful and unsuspecting Daphne and herilthy rich disgustingly successful husband JacksonI ll be the The Cat Who Sang for the Birds (Cat Who... first to admit that I love a good cast of whack job characters but there s certain criteria Ieel necessary Tempting Faith Di Napoli for their levels of insanity to work The characters musteel leshed out and human They should have layers and appear altered when viewed rom different angles No one is all one thing They have to be convincing enough to make even the unbelievable seem believable No matter how absurd a theory may seem good writing will make me a believer While the characters here certainly nailed psychopathy I The Southern Belles of Honeysuckle Way felt they lacked the depth and dimension neededor me to buy what they were selling although I m not saying the ride wasn t un It just elt a bit put on and inauthentic at times This plot is divided into three parts with alternating The Confident Woman: How to Take Charge and Recharge Your Life focus which I thought worked well Theirst section elt slightly repetitive and was my least enjoyable but the rest of the book had me lipping eagerly through its pages anxiously awaiting reveals As or the twists they seemed edgy than surprising which isn t a bad thing The ending left me a little divided or reasons that are too spoilery to mention but since this is iction I can stand to give a high ive to good ol book karma The Way of Women for doing her job with efficiency and vigor and a sweet twist of irony as a cherry topper Overall a stellar concept that with a tighter execution I could have easily 5 starred I can definitely see this becoming a movie it certainly reads like one I do think many readers will enjoy the compulsive nature of this one and easily soar through this story Enjoy Traveling Friends Read Book Stats GenreCategory Psychological ThrillerMysterySuspense Characters Deliciously Unhinged but largely one dimensional Plot An envious woman greedily sets out to steal the life and husband of a newriend Writing Straightforward Fluid POV 1st 3rd Person Perspectives Alternating Heroines Cliffhanger None Standalone My book ish Blog Insta What we ve got here is a ailure to communicate This uote rom the 1967 The Dream of Water: A Memoir film COOL HAND LUKE basically sums up how I meeling after reading this book And I ve never even seen the movie The uote just came to me as a thing I know somehow deep The Bravest Cat! from within the pop culture recesses of my mind There s a lot of useless information in thereI might also go with in the galaxy of This Sucks Camel Dicks Stepbrothers 2008What I mean to say is I wish the publishers hadn t stuffed this novel into the psychological thriller genre just because that s where all the cool kids are and had instead been honest about what this book is a dark romance meets women siction meets soap opera intrigue with a terrible TERRIBLE messageIt s not a thriller I m sorry but no I am not thrilledHad I known this The Slammer: The Crisis In Canada's Prison System from the start I would have passed on reading it.
