mother was n America but t just felt like Dasha explaining a series of eventswas n America but t just felt like Dasha explaining a series of events her mother just happened to be absent Maybe I just unaware of the target audience here Maybe this was written as of a middle grade and I didn t realize that Either way I was just surprised that t felt much like a book for younger readers since I wasn t expecting that The llustrations n this graphic novel were beautiful though I love the color palette all black white and grey with accents of red Tolstikova has a very distinct style that really fit the feel of this story I did say there was a bit of a lack of emotion less than I expected but that doesn t mean this novel didn t have any feeling I spent a much longer time exploring the mages n this novel than the words I will definitely flip through this again and again just for the Always Look Twice illustrations because they really are something special I wanted to bump the start rating up just for thellustrations but the narrative style was just too "different from what I was expecting This was by no means bad "from what I was expecting This was by no means bad stars means I enjoyed the novel If the target audience of this All For You: Halfway There / Buckhorn Ever After / The One You Want / One Perfect Night is young readers ands possible a way to get them Any Man Of Mine into graphic novels or memoirs then this was done very well I just don t fully know what thentent of this novel was so Annalee And The Lawman it s hard to sayf The Apollonides Mistress Scandal it fulfilled that whatevert s A Year Without Mom was a very nice read though Very nice and very pretty ndeed Hmm Well I LOVED the art It s beautiful and Anything For His Son it made this book worth reading for me But the storywasn t First of all there s really no reason to knowt s set Anticipation in 1990s Russia because this book gives zeronsight nto what t was like to live then I guess t s an OK picture of what t s like to be a 12 year old girl but I would have liked to see a wordless version of this because the words are really just something to step over on your way to beautiful llustrations But there are worse problems a graphic novel could have At first I was thinking Except for how t s set Annie and the Outlaw in Russia I ve read this storyline many times And the artworks too drab Then ANNIE AND THE PRINCE it hit me Yes A Year Without Mom has a familiar plot adolescent girls separated from parents and has to navigate school friends and the future or less on her own but that Russian setting The Single Dad's Redemption is what makest so relevant Young people all over the. S worried about her own challenges as she negotiates family friendships and school without her mother Just as she begins to find her own feet she gets word that she A Christmas Affair is to join her mothern Ame.
