Is bookDespite this story being pretty much a Doctor LITE TALE IT S STILL BRILLIANT AND THAT S tale it s still brilliant and that s due to its engaging plot as well as a handful of really well written and interesting supporting characters I won t be comparing this to it s television adaption starring David Tennant as I ll only be talking about the book itself The story itself is brilliantly written and while there maybe a couple of chapters that are a little boring most of the book it s really really enjoyable There are lot of times where the book can be really atmospheric and that helps to give the story a bit of drive One of the best parts about the novel are the villains who are basically a family wanting to gain timelord abilities by using a Pod which has turned The Doctor into a human called John Smith My favourite member of the family is probably Greeneye not sure why but I ust found the character to be an interesting part of the book Another aspect of the book I really liked is the character of Timothy Dean who is pretty relatable to readers and I did find myself caring about him uite a lot Bernice Summerfield is also really well written here and does get a lot to do After all Cornell did create her character in the book Love and War I don t what to say too much on the book as I really want other Who fans to go into this not knowing too much about it as there are some parts of the story that are best left for the new reader to experience Overall it s a fantastic book one of my favouri. of all time If liked the television adaption then you ll love this book as you liked the television adaption then you ll love this book as ll say I personally think they re as good as each other Flipping amazing And now I understand what the fuss is about Bernice Summerfield and I want to read every book in which she appears She may be my new favourite companion So far I ve read about 70 Doctor Who books over several ranges Not only will I say that this is probably my absolute favorite so far I ll say it is going to be a hard one to top for sure Like many I saw the 10th Doctor TV version of this before delving into the novel and it is also one of my favorite episodes of the new series It pales in comparison to the book While the basics of the story are all there the novel is sufficiently different from the TV version that you lose very little from the novel The story is an exploration of what it is to be the Doctor and what it is to be a human The story is interesting engaging and extremely original and the characters are so well wrought that you can t help but feel for them This story takes everything good about a Doctor Who story and runs feel for them This story takes everything good about a Doctor Who story and runs it Absolutely fantastic One of the best reads everI listened to the audio version of this and it must be added that not only is it one of the best produced audio novels I ve had the pleasure of listening to complete with sound effects and great background music but Lisa Bowerman does one of the most superb When Fraser Met Billy: An Autistic Boy, a Rescue Cat, and the Transformative Power of Animal Connections jobs narrating ever. O save the day An adventure set in Britain on the eve of the First World War featuring the Seventh Doctor as played by Sylvester McCoy and his companion Bernice Summerfield This book was the basis for the Tenth Doctor television story Human Nature The Family of Blood starring David Tennan.
